Produced in very small quantities, this official live BBC transcription disc, was pressed on 12″ vinyl and sent to commonwealth countries connected to BBC in 1981 so they could broadcast selections or the full five songs. The vinyl ‘disc’ featured a double bill of 2 concerts, Nine Below Zero on 1 side with Toyah on the other.
The Toyah concert in question took place at BBC Paris Theatre in London on Wednesday 1 April 1981 not long after the top ten success of Toyah’s EP Four From Toyah which contained the breakthrough hit It’s A Mystery. The recording was broadcast by BBC Radio in the 1980s with an additional song from the concert, Neon Womb. This song was not included on the BBC Transcription Disc release.
Thought to be pressed in only quantity of 100 many of the records were destroyed due to the expiry dates and strict instructions printed on the items. These 5 live tracks have never had a commercial release
