Roses In Chains single/video out now

Jun 22, 2024

Renowned artist Toyah Willcox has released a new single, ‘Roses In Chains’ on Friday 21 June 2024 in time for Toyah second consecutive year of appearing on the bills of the legendary Glastonbury Festival and Isle of Wight Festival.

‘Roses In Chains’ emerged through collaborative song-writing sessions between Toyah and Simon, crafting a song that delves into the intense dynamics of human relationships. “The idea behind the song is the intensity of relationships; nothing is plain sailing, but bonds are unbreakable” Toyah explains. This theme of enduring connections is powerfully conveyed through both the music and the lyrics.

The single showcases the unique synergy between Toyah, Simon, and Robert. “Musically, we aim for our life experiences to add up to one,” Toyah states, highlighting the trio’s diverse backgrounds: her roots in punk, Robert’s eclectic genre-spanning career, and Simon’s history of pop success. This convergence of influences is evident in the rich, textured sound of ‘Roses In Chains,’ which follows in the footsteps of Toyah and Simon’s previous collaborative success, 2021’s charting album Posh Pop (#22 Official Album Chart).

A standout feature of the song is the dual voices of Toyah and Simon, symbolising the sometimes painful yet inseparable nature of deep relationships. “I asked Simon to sing with me to represent how sometimes two people cannot be apart, even if it hurts, that there is a symbiotic relationship.” Toyah shares.

‘Roses In Chains’ is set to be a poignant and powerful addition to Toyah’s illustrious career. The track can be streamed/download from Friday 21 June 2024 in time for Toyah & Robert’s second consecutive year of appearing on the bills of the legendary Glastonbury Festival and Isle of Wight Festival.
