Toyah is confirmed to revisit the role of Quadrophenia‘s Monkey in a new film entitled TO BE SOMEONE.
Filming commences this summer for the film— based on the book of the same name by Peter Meadows — which continues the lives of many of the original characters from the seminal film, Quadrophenia. Since its original release in 1979, Quadrophenia has been a cult classic film and is regularly celebrated in events, screenings and conventions which bring cast members back together.
Toyah is confirmed to act in the new film alongside original Quadrophenia cast members Phil Daniels, Trevor Laird and Mark Wingett. The book was written by Peter Meadows and picks up the action after the first film to discover Jimmy has survived and the novel follows him through to the 1990s.
Toyah commented on the production: ‘Quadrophenia was really zeitgeist and it’s never really gone away, as every new generation connects with it. The natural journey for my character, nearly 40 years on, has seen her become a sexual predator, working in the sex industry as a madam,’ she said, adding that her character and her husband were also swingers.“
